A cybersecurity incident has forced Ahold Delhaize to keep the websites and mobile applications of its United States grocery banners offline for a fifth consecutive day, Supermarket News and BigGo Finance both report. As FTMQ Food reported earlier, the retailer initially suspended online ordering and digital systems on October 12, 2026. [1][4][8]
The outage affects the digital platforms of Food Lion, Hannaford, Stop and Shop, and Giant Food, Supermarket News reported. Stop and Shop posted a notice on Friday stating that it is working to restore services as quickly as possible. The company noted that its physical grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations remain open to shoppers. [1]
Ahold Delhaize stated that protecting its infrastructure for customers, associates, and partners is a top priority, Supermarket News reported. The grocer apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage. Grocery Dive and Yahoo Finance both report that the digital disruptions have restricted customer access to loyalty programs, creating risks for the company's omnichannel operations. [1][2][5]
In relation to the breach, Dutch police are seeking a formal complaint, Cybernews reported. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.V. was formed on July 23, 2016, through the merger of Ahold and Delhaize Group, and is headquartered in Zaandam, the Netherlands. [3][7]
