Colombian coffee group Juan Valdez has appointed a new chief executive officer, World Coffee Portal reported. The appointment is the first time the Bogotá-based organization has named a new chief executive officer since 2018. The company operates as a coffee farm group, retailer, and café chain. [1]
The organization had been searching for new leadership since April 2026. World Coffee Portal reported that former leader Camila Escobar stepped down from the role in April 2026 after eight years in charge. [1]
Juan Valdez originated as an advertising character created in 1958 by the Doyle Dane Bernbach agency for the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. The character was designed to distinguish 100 percent Colombian coffee from blended products. [2]
The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia was founded in 1927 to promote the production and exportation of Colombian coffee. The non-profit business association currently represents more than 540,000 producers, most of which are small family owned farms. [3]
