Walmart has issued a major nationwide food safety recall for frozen pasta and frozen fruit products, according to a report by the Grants Pass Tribune on October 9, 2026. The retailer pulled the items from store shelves after warnings were raised regarding potential bacterial contamination. [1]
The latest retail action follows previous supply chain disruptions involving frozen produce. As FTMQ Food reported earlier, Chilean supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. previously expanded a recall of organic frozen berries sold under Walmart Great Value and Trader Joe's brands due to potential Escherichia coli contamination. [7]
Separate food safety recalls were also announced by regulatory authorities this week. FDA Recalls reported that Gardeners Basics of Spanish Fork, Utah, issued a voluntary recall on October 8, 2026, for one-pound bags of Waltham 29 broccoli sprouting seeds due to potential Salmonella contamination. [5]
Industry regulations continue to drive sector developments. IndexBox reported that expanding food safety rules are driving growth in the food ultrasound market, while an analysis by Marler Blog noted declining public trust in current food safety oversight systems. [3][4]
In short
- Walmart issued a nationwide recall for frozen pasta and frozen fruit over bacterial contamination warnings.
- Gardeners Basics recalled one-pound bags of broccoli sprouting seeds due to potential Salmonella contamination.
