FDA Recalls reported that Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc., a distributor based in Brooklyn, New York, is voluntarily recalling eight-ounce packages of Starfish Seafood Trio. The affected packages contain cold smoked salmon, halibut, and trout. [1]

According to FDA Recalls, the recall was initiated because the cold smoked seafood products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in consumers. [1]

The recalled products are packaged in eight-ounce, or 227-gram, sizes under the Starfish brand name. FDA Recalls published the company announcement as a public service, noting that the agency does not endorse the company or its products. [1]

The action follows earlier regulatory actions in the food and supplement sector. As FTMQ Food reported earlier, Pacific Health Sciences recently recalled a lot of Babies' Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water due to undeclared alcohols. [2]
