Supermarket News reported that United States retail banners operated by Ahold Delhaize restored their websites and mobile applications on Tuesday after being forced to shut down online ordering for over a week due to a cyber incident. Customers attempting to log into mobile apps continue to experience login failures and broken password reset links. Supermarket News noted that Food Lion initiated a promotional offer of free pickup or delivery through October 31 to encourage shoppers to return to the restored platform. [1]

As FTMQ Food reported earlier, Ahold Delhaize original operational disruption began after detecting a network security breach on October 12, 2026. The incident suspended e-commerce and delivery networks across all five of its American banners, including Food Lion, Hannaford, Stop and Shop, and Giant Food, as well as European platforms like Albert Heijn and bol.com. Throughout the digital shutdown, physical grocery store locations, pharmacies, and service stations remained fully open for in-person shopping. [8][9]

Ahold Delhaize is an international retail and wholesale holding company formed through the 2016 merger of Dutch retailer Ahold and Belgian operator Delhaize Group. Headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands, the corporation operates 7,716 retail stores across nine countries and employs 402,000 workers. The company generates approximately two-thirds of its total revenue within the United States market. [6][7]

Separately, Deli Market News and The Shelby Report reported that Ahold Delhaize has finalized a start date for incoming chief executive officer Thierry Garnier. The appointment comes as the company continues to manage its leadership transition alongside its technical recovery efforts across global retail channels. [2][4][5]
