Texas grocery chain H-E-B recorded year-over-year visit growth that was over six times faster than the overall grocery industry between January and August, Grocery Dive reported, citing location analytics platform Placer.ai. [1]
According to Grocery Dive, Placer.ai attributed the foot traffic increase to physical expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth region alongside strong customer engagement. The firm noted that H-E-B shoppers remain in stores longer and are more than twice as likely to visit more than four times per month compared to average grocery consumers. [1]
The company operates diverse formats including upscale Central Market locations, Mi Tienda stores focused on Hispanic products, and standard supermarkets offering curbside pickup and digital delivery through its Favor platform. Founded by Florence Butt, the retailer expanded under her son Howard Edward Butt and remains controlled by the Butt family alongside an employee partnership model. [2]
Placer.ai indicated that locally tailored merchandise assortments, community ties, and in-store amenities such as True Texas BBQ locations help sustain customer loyalty across the chain, Grocery Dive reported. [1]
