First published by the Valley News, the report states that the member-owned grocery cooperative is working to keep prices affordable for consumers in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. [1]

Grocery store prices have increased by approximately 31% since March 2020, according to United States Bureau of Labor Statistics data cited by VTDigger. Cooperative representatives noted that economic conditions have remained challenging since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. [1]

The Hanover Consumer Cooperative Society began 90 years ago during the Great Depression. It was established when 17 neighbors in Hanover, New Hampshire, and Norwich formed a collective buying group in a basement to purchase cases of citrus and maple syrup. [1]
