Confectionery manufacturer Loacker has expanded its agricultural supply chain by acquiring the Fontana Chiusa estate in Italy, Just Food reported. Located near Rome between Labico and Palestrina, the site includes agricultural facilities, primary processing infrastructure, and units dedicated to drying and storage. [1]
According to Just Food, the addition of the new property expands Loacker's direct farming operations. Added to the 275 hectares the business already farms in Tuscany, the acquisition brings the total area under its direct management to roughly 400 hectares. [1]
Loacker is based in South Tyrol and specializes in wafers, chocolate, and related confectionery lines. Its flagship products include Napolitaner wafers and Gardena Hazelnut snacks, which use raw ingredients sourced through its Italian Hazelnut Orchards project alongside Ecuadorian cocoa. [2][3]
The business generates significant international sales across markets such as Italy and Saudi Arabia. In 2024, the company recorded a total turnover of 459.4 million euros, with export sales accounting for more than half of that overall revenue. [3]
