Subway has made a major investment in its UK menus to expand beyond its core lunchtime business, World Coffee Portal reported on 9 October. The United States fast-food chain is targeting breakfast trade by upgrading its coffee and food-to-go options to compete with market leaders such as Greggs and McCafe. [1]

According to World Coffee Portal, the menu refresh includes an updated grab-and-go selection designed specifically for high-footfall travel hub locations. Subway is also introducing a new dining concept aimed at driving sales after 6pm, alongside its renewed focus on morning trade. [1]

Subway was originally known primarily for its customisable sub sandwiches. The latest operational shifts represent a strategic push to capture market share across multiple dayparts in the UK coffee and food-to-go sector. [1]
