The Hershey Company is taking steps to increase its manufacturing capacity and packaging options following persistent supply challenges in its salty snacks segment, Food Dive reported. Executives confirmed this week that high demand for brands including Dot's Pretzels and LesserEvil has outpaced production capabilities. [1]
According to Food Dive, supply limitations affecting Dot's Pretzels and multipack options have hindered manufacturing for at least two consecutive quarters. Hershey reported that service levels showed improvement during the third quarter compared to the previous three months, but the pace of recovery fell short of expectations, restricting overall sales and placing further pressure on operating profit. [1]
To address these supply constraints, Hershey is adding new manufacturing lines and investing in automation technologies. Founded in 1894 by Milton S. Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the company is one of the largest chocolate manufacturers globally and operates additional product lines in baked goods and beverages. [1][2]
