Mondelēz International has launched a limited-edition Toblerone Pistachio Gelato bar in partnership with Istanbul Airport, Food Navigator reported. The green-tinted chocolate release forms part of the manufacturer's strategy to expand travel retail exclusives and destination-inspired confectionery. [1]

The release follows other recent product variations for the brand, according to Food Navigator. Mondelēz has previously introduced Toblerone variants filled with Biscoff, a pink version, a crystal-themed edition, and a strawberry Eton Mess flavour. [1]

Toblerone originated in Bern, Switzerland, where chocolatier Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Baumann developed it in 1908. Baumann created the original recipe by blending milk chocolate with white nougat containing almonds and honey. A chocolate bar, or tablet, is a confection containing chocolate that may include mixtures of nuts, caramel, fruit, nougat, or wafers. [3][4]

Food Navigator reported that Mondelēz is using the brand to drive flavour innovation and locally inspired releases aimed at international travelers. The company has not announced whether the Pistachio Gelato edition will expand beyond the Istanbul location. [1]
