More than 255 members of Teamsters Local 633 at Associated Grocers Northeast went on strike in Pembroke, New Hampshire. Supermarket News and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters reported that the strike stems from a dispute over wages and retirement benefits. [1][2]

Supermarket News reported that the workers voted by a 98 percent majority in September 2026 to authorize the strike after months of negotiations. The primary point of contention involves the preservation of the New England Teamsters Pension Fund. The employer is seeking to terminate the existing pension plan and replace it with a 401(k) retirement savings plan. [1]

Shawn Gilan, a 14-year maintenance worker and member of Local 633, told Supermarket News that the company is trying to strip away retirement benefits that employees spent years earning. [1]

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is a labor union in the United States and Canada formed in 1903. The union represents approximately 1.25 million public and private sector workers. [3]
