Nestlé has partnered with the World Society of Surgical Oncology to establish new clinical guidelines for nutritional care in cancer surgery patients, Food Navigator reported. The initiative aims to assist healthcare providers in identifying patients at risk of malnutrition and delivering structured nutritional support both before and after surgical procedures. [1]
According to Food Navigator, the project brings together 15 international medical experts. This panel will formulate practical guidance designed to integrate targeted nutrition directly into standard surgical oncology care protocols. [1]
Henri Nestlé, a trained pharmacist, founded Nestlé in Vevey, Switzerland, in 1866. He initially created a powdered infant food made from cow milk, wheat flour, and sugar to combat high infant mortality rates, expanding later into condensed milk and other specialized dairy products. [3]
The collaboration marks an expansion of the broader food industry into medical nutrition and specialized health applications, Food Navigator reported. The new recommendations seek to place structured nutritional interventions at the center of surgical recovery plans. [1]
