The founders of PLNT Burger plan to open a new fast-casual concept called PLNT Café in Washington, D.C., later this year. Nation's Restaurant News and QSR Magazine both report that the all-day venue will be located in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. [1][2]
According to Nation's Restaurant News, the menu will combine elements from PLNT Burger and a virtual taco concept called T@ko. The original PLNT Burger concept was co-founded in 2019 by Seth Goldman, the founder of Just Ice Tea, and chef Spike Mendelsohn. [1]
Mendelsohn is a Washington, D.C. based chef who also owns Good Stuff Eatery, Santa Rosa Taqueria, and We, The Pizza. In 2019, he opened the first PLNT Burger inside a Whole Foods Market in Silver Spring, Maryland, featuring Beyond Meat products. [3]
