Ahold Delhaize expects a recent online breach to reduce its net sales for the current quarter despite recording strong United States online growth in the third quarter of 2026, Grocery Dive reported on November 4, 2026. Financial Times and Investing.com UK both report that the company updated its guidance and cut its profit forecast due to business disruptions. RetailDetail EU reported the cyberattack will cost the company up to 250 million euros in revenue, while Anadolu Ajansı reported the expected revenue loss is up to 281 million dollars. In the United States, comparable sales for Ahold Delhaize took a hit of approximately 2.1 percentage points during the third quarter, according to Grocery Dive. Grocery Dive reported that the reduction was driven by the Inflation Reduction Act, which hurt pharmacy sales, alongside egg deflation and a cyclospora outbreak. As FTMQ Food reported earlier, the cybersecurity incident originally began on October 12, 2026, causing disruptions across both Dutch and United States digital retail channels. [1][9][10]

Ahold Delhaize is a Dutch multinational retail and wholesale holding company that was established on July 23, 2016, following the merger of Dutch retailer Ahold and Belgian Delhaize Group. Headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands, the business operates 16 local brands across 7,716 stores in nine countries, employing 402,000 people. Two-thirds of the holding company revenue is generated in the United States, where it manages supermarket formats, e-commerce platforms, and wholesale distribution. [7][8]

The latest forecast adjustments follow previous efforts to restore digital operations across affected brands. As FTMQ Food reported earlier, Ahold Delhaize restored online grocery ordering for its Albert Heijn brand in the Netherlands after logistics and commercial platforms were disrupted for nearly two weeks, while United States retail websites and mobile applications returned online after an outage lasting over a week.
